We are proud to be partnering with JDRF again for 2020 and raising funds to help them accelerate life-changing breakthroughs for people with type 1 diabetes.

JDRF funds research that transforms the lives of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D). They want a cure and won’t stop until they find one. Along the way, JDRF will continue to drive scientific progress that delivers new treatments and therapies that make day-to-day life with T1D easier, safer and healthier.

You can play a significant part in this effort by entering Revolve24 and committing to raise at least $1,000. JDRF will support you all the way to hitting your fundraising goal and for a bit of fun you can see where you are tracking on the Charity Leader board HERE

To get you on your way, we have reduced the entry fees for the Charity Places to all three Challenges - the 24hour, 12hour and 6hour (per rider, regardless of the team size)

Challenge Entry Fee Per Rider
24 Hour Challenge $120 Soloist, 2, 4, 6 or 8 Person Team Member
12 Hour Challenge $80 Soloist, 2 or 4 Person Team Member
6 Hour Challenge $40 Soloist or 2 Person Team Member

JDRF is the leading global organisation funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF Australia is built on a grassroots model of people connecting in their local communities, collaborating regionally for efficiency and broader fundraising impact, and uniting on an international stage to pool resources, passion and energy.

JDRF's mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications.

To accomplish this, JDRF has invested nearly $2 billion since our inception. JDRF collaborates with academic institutions, policymakers, and corporate and industry partners to develop and deliver a pipeline of innovative therapies to people living with T1D.

JDRF's staff and volunteers in seven countries are dedicated to advocacy, community engagement and our vision of a world without T1D.

JDRF has three priority areas for T1D research – Cure | Prevent | Treat. JDRF are targeting all aspects and stages of the disease to improve as many lives as possible on the way to a cure.

Why Cure?

A cure is the ultimate goal for anyone affected by T1D. Curing T1D will mean either regeneration of beta cells or replacement of insulin producing beta cells through a transplant. The cure portfolio includes any studies that are investigating ways to restore the glucose regulating function in the body in people who already have T1D

Why Prevent?

If JDRF can prevent T1D, then that would mean no one else in the future would ever have to live with it. In order to prevent T1D, JDRF need to know exactly what causes the immune destruction of insulin producing beta cells and need to have markers to predict who might get T1D and track its progress.

Why Treat?

The discovery of insulin was one of the most important medical advances of the 20th century and insulin saves millions of lives each year. However, insulin is not a cure for T1D, and daily management of this disease remains a significant burden. There is an opportunity to improve the lives of those living with T1D through technology. Additionally, people with T1D are at increased risk of long term complications such as eye and kidney disease. Research to prevent or slow progression of these diseases is urgently needed.

At the heart of our community are the 120,000 children and adults in Australia who have been diagnosed with T1D and counting, with 2400 newly diagnosed each year. Our community extends to the families, carers, teachers and friends of those with T1D and to all those who fight on their behalf: the JDRF team, scientists, researchers, nurses, pharmaceutical companies, parliamentarians, volunteers, corporate partners and donors.

By taking part in Revolve24 and raising funds for JDRF you are part of the community of supporters changing the lives of people living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
